Our Village, Our Vision Open House Scheduled for Nov. 15

Open House Location Change

Due to an electrical outage at City Hall, the Open House will take place at 948A Highland Village Road.

The City began the process of updating the master planning documents a little over a year ago.  An open house is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Municipal Complex for the community to view the plans and specifically the Opportunity Area Plans.

In September 2021, Council approved a contract with McAdams to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan and other master planning documents. Since that time, McAdams has worked through the process in phases. The first phase of the project was the community input phase with several opportunities for input, including an all-day open house, an open house in conjunction with the HVBA Community Coffee, and a month-long online engagement opportunity that replicated the open house experience. Input from property owners, staff, and Council was also included. McAdams held two specific focus groups to gather input from users of the trail system and from the teens of Highland Village for needed park and recreation opportunities. A 300-sample statistically valid survey was also part of the project.

McAdams then began the second phase of the project, gathering all the information provided in the community engagement, meetings with property owners, the statistically valid survey, the focus groups, the economic market analysis and input from staff, Council, and Planning & Zoning to develop the planning documents.

We are now in the final phase of this process with the review of the rough draft plans. The plans have been available for our residents, Council, Planning & Zoning and staff since the beginning of October. McAdams has revised the plans, specifically the Opportunity Area Plans, based on input received from Planning & Zoning Commission, Council, staff and our residents. At the come-and-go open house on Tuesday, November 15, the plans and the revisions to the Opportunity Area Plans will be available with staff from McAdams and the City available to answer questions.
