It’s that time of the year again where members of HVPD begin to grow their beards! What I’d like everyone to know about this campaign, is that it is a way for our officers to give something in return by raising awareness of children’s cancer research at the same. Sydney Bjornberg was a 12-year-old who lived in Highland Village who lost her battle to a childhood brain cancer identified as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), in 2013. Since then, her mother Michelle has been a huge advocate for The Cure Starts Now, a non-profit organization fighting to raise awareness and funds for the approximately 43 kids diagnosed with cancer each day. Our officers donate at least $100 to participate in this worthy cause, so please don’t hesitate to ask them about it and be in a picture with them!
