After receiving several inquiries regarding the rough railroad crossing located on FM2499 in the City of Highland Village, the Kansas City Southern Railroad (KCS) will perform crossing maintenance on April 9, 2019. KCS has informed the City they anticipate the repair will be a 12-hour event. KCS, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the City of Highland Village are all working in conjunction with each other to perform the required work. On April 9, 2019 southbound FM2499 will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting at 6:00 a.m. CST at the intersection of FM2181 (Swisher Road) and the intersection of FM2499/Castlewood/Highland Shores Boulevard. Northbound FM2499 will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of FM2499 and Harlington Drive. The railroad crossing will not be accessible to vehicular traffic during the duration of the repairs. It is recommend that the traveling public seek an alternate route on April 9, 2019. The railroad crossing repairs are anticipated to be completed on April 9, 2019, allowing normal FM2499 traffic flows to resume on April 10, 2019.
