City Manager's Weekly Update

Public Works
Public Works staff met with BW2 to discuss various projects.

Staff held a bid opening for the Idlewild Elevated Storage Tank painting project. 

The roofing contractor made repairs to the gutters on the Public Works building.

Public Works staff attended a departmental holiday luncheon at Texas Roadhouse.

Street Division
  • Finished concrete street repairs on Knoll Court.
  • Started sidewalk repairs near the 3200 block of Northwood Drive.

  • Continued concrete street repairs near the 2500 block of Lakeside Drive and the 900 block of Lochmoor Lane.
  • Patched potholes in various locations throughout the City.

  • Replaced various warning signs and street name blades in accordance with our sign replacement program. 
  • Crews are prepared for sanding operations in the event of inclement weather.
  • SAZ is continuing concrete street repairs in various locations throughout Hillside Drive.

Utilities Division
  • Replaced a fire hydrant behind the old Kroger on Justin Road.

  • Repaired a water main break in the 100 block of Winding Creek Drive.

  • Sandblasted and painted several fire hydrants according to AWWA color code. 
  • Made repairs to a fire hydrant in the 500 block of Snowdon Court.
  • TV inspected sanitary sewer mains on Turpin Drive and Rockland Drive.
  • Performed monthly grease trap inspections as part of a TCEQ mandated program.
  • Located one area of water and wastewater infrastructure for a contractor performing underground directional boring.
  • Flowed and inspected several fire hydrants as part of our annual fire hydrant maintenance program. 
  • Performed customer service inspections on several commercial businesses.
  • Performed meter rereads, water turn on/turn offs, and leak checks.
  • Performed maintenance on well lots, lift stations, fire hydrants, and the water distribution and wastewater collection system.

Maintenance Division
  • Performed nine preventive maintenance and equipment services.

  • Replaced two tires.
  • Repaired one spot light.
  • Replaced three fuel injectors.
 
Parks and Recreation
Park Staff
At the Parks and Recreation board meeting Monday Terry Golden swore in Tamara Lisby for her second term.

Staff trimmed the bamboo that was encroaching onto the trail access at the end of Copperas Branch Road.

The Unity Park Crew painted the inside of the Unity Park concession stand.

Staff at Pilot Knoll Park blocked off camp sites 32 and 33 for maintenance. They also drilled weep holes into the pony wall at the gatehouse so that water will escape easily.

Both Parks staff and Information Services staff met with Sunbelt Pools at Doubletree Ranch Park to coordinate the installation of a device that would alert personnel via email and text if the chemical controller would happen to go into alarm mode.
