Animal Shelter Advisory Committee

Meetings

Meetings of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee are held in accordance with Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Sec. 8235 (c) The advisory committee shall meet at least three (3) times a year.

Members

The City of Highland Village Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was established under the guidelines of Resolution 06-1818 and is comprised of no less than four (4) members appointed by City Council to serve indefinite terms. Representatives on the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee are selected pursuant to Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Sec. 8235 (b) The advisory committee must be composed of at least one (1) licensed veterinarian, one (1) county or municipal official, one (1) person whose duties include the daily operation of an animal shelter, and one (1) representative from an animal welfare organization.

Committee Responsibilities

The City of Highland Village Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was formed pursuant to Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Sec. 8235 (a) The governing body of a county or municipality in which an animal shelter is located shall appoint an advisory committee to assist in complying with the requirements of this chapter.
