HVPD is a full service police department with public safety 911 dispatch and local jail services. The department is authorized 32 full-time sworn police officers, 9 emergency telecommunicators, 2 administrative and records personnel, 2 part-time public safety support officers, 1 animal care officer and a team of school crossing guards. In addition an all volunteer unit of approximately 40 civilian police auxiliary assist the department in its mission and at special events.
Highland Village is located in Denton County just north of Dallas on Lake Lewisville. Our city is approximately 5.5 square miles in size with a population of 16,500. Highland Village is primarily residential with a growing affluent commercial shopping district, including a new Wal-Mart, AMC Theaters, and many others.
