Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Service

Republic Services provides a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Recycling Service (HHW) which is collected at your home as frequently as monthly. To schedule a pickup, call Republic Services at (469) 451-3713 or submit the online form to receive the required bags. The Republic Services customer service representative will provide the collection date for your HHW waste.. 

How Does Hazardous Waste Collection Work? Four Easy Steps:

1. To participate, you must set up a collection appointment.
There are two ways to schedule a collection:
Call (469) 451-3713 (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.)
Submit the online form

If you call in or submit the online form, the Customer Service Representative will guide you through the steps toward a safe and successful collection. You will be asked several questions, including your address and the type and amount of materials available for the pickup. You will be provided a convenient collection date and information about where to place the materials for collection.  Be advised that most collections are typically scheduled two to three weeks out, with most completed in approximately two weeks. 

2. Your collection kit will be sent.
After an appointment has been scheduled, a complete collection kit will be mailed to your home. This kit includes an instruction sheet, collection bag, and other items to help pack and secure your household-generated special materials.

3. Prepare for collection.
Once you have received the collection kit, please read the included instruction sheet, and then package your materials according to the directions. Review the list of acceptable and unacceptable materials here. Leaking containers will not be collected.

4. On your specified collection date, set out your materials.
Before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection date, set out your collection bag in the specific location discussed with the Customer Service Representative. Place the bag near your home but away from the street, curb, or alleyway. During the day, a Customer Service Technician will collect materials from your home.   • Paint (latex and oil-based)
  • Paint thinners
  • Medical sharps
  • Aerosols
  • Oils
  • Batteries (lead-acid, alkaline and NICad)
  • Solvents
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Gasoline
  • Antifreeze
  • Cleaners (acidic and basic)
  • Ethylene glycol
  • Petroleum-based lubricants
  • Televisions
  • Monitors
  • VCRs
  • Computers and laptops
  • Keyboards and mice
  • Scanners
  • Empty propane and helium tanks
  • Printers
  • Copiers
  • Telephones
  • Fax machines
  • Microwave ovens
  • CD players
  • Stereos and related cables

Unacceptable items include:

  • Commercially generated HHW or electronics
  • Radioactive compounds
  • Smoke detectors
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Tires
  • Asbestos
  • PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls)
  • Pharmaceuticals or controlled substances
  • Biological or infectious wastes
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Dry paint (completely dry paint/empty paint cans)
  • Leaking or unidentified containers
