Highland Village Veterans Memorial

Veterans MemorialThe City dedicated the Highland Village Veterans Memorial on April 14, 2011 with the placement of the first plaque honoring Highland Village resident Private First Class Aaron Hudson. At just 20 years of age, PFC Hudson was killed in the line of duty on Friday, April 16, 2005 in Iraq.

The City constructed the Veterans Memorial to remember Highland Village men and women who have served to protect our freedom, specifically those who have died in the line of duty or passed away after full retirement from the service. We are accepting applications for placement of plaques on the Memorial, with a dedication ceremony tenatively planned for fall 2011. Click here for the application.

The Highland Village Veterans Memorial is on the south side of the municipal complex, along Brazos Boulevard and adjacent to City Trail. In 2008 the City dedicated the community funded Veterans Monument, which is east of the Veterans Memorial. The Monument represents each branch of the armed services and was designed to allow a place for reflection and remembrance to the organizations and those who serve to protect our freedom. We hope that all who visit the Veterans Memorial and Monument will remember and be grateful to the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen who over the years have defended and preserved our Nation.
