Permits are required before performing any new construction or any addition, alteration or repair of existing buildings, structures, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fences, retaining walls, sprinklers, signs, accessory buildings, carports, pools/spas, patio covers, windows/doors, roof/deck replacement, outdoor fireplaces/kitchens, and foundation repair. (Exception: All work which requires a permit, but is performed outside business hours for emergency reasons, must be submitted for permit the next business day). If there is a question whether or not a permit is required or if any other information is needed, please contact the Building Inspections Department at 972-899-5093.
Note: Permits are not valid until such time it is paid for, picked up, and placed on the job site.

The mission of the Building Inspections Department is to ensure the safety and welfare of the general public by enforcing building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical code regulations within the City. Enforcement is achieved through plan review prior to the issuance of a permit and on-site inspections, after permit issuance, to verify compliance throughout the construction process.
