City Lifts Phase 2 Water Restrictions

Back To News

Highland Village has lifted Phase 2 water restrictions as of Tuesday, September 2. Mandatory Phase 2 water restrictions went into effect on Wednesday, July 30.

Phase 1 Water Conservation remains in effect until September 30. Phase 1 restricts landscape watering between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Wasteful water runoff is also prohibited, which includes hosing down pavement or rinsing off cars. Groundwater well owners and residents that draw water from Lake Lewisville are required to post a sign showing well or lake water is in use.

“Our residents should be applauded for their adherence to the Phase 2 restrictions. That, coupled with the recent rains, kept us from moving to the more restrictive Phase 3 restrictions. Highland Village residents are conscientious users of our natural resources,” stated Public Works Director Matthew Kite.
Phase 2 was triggered automatically by ordinance when the demand on the City water supply reached 80% or greater for 3 consecutive days. Phase 2 automatically terminates five weeks from initiation unless extended by resolution of the City Council.

The City of Highland Village has an adequate water supply for today and tomorrow’s needs. Phase 1 seasonal conservation is part of a water management plan to ensure reliable water quality.
