Council Seeks Resident Volunteers for Charter Review Committee

The City Council at their July 22, 2008 meeting directed staff to arrange for a charter amendment to be placed on the May 09, 2009 ballot.  In preparation for the charter amendment election, a resident Charter Review Committee will be formed. The committee will consist of seven members.  The two fundamental duties of the committee are: (1) review the City Charter to determine whether revisions are necessitated; and (2) report findings and forward proposed charter amendments to the City Council. The proposed timeline for the committee to meet is during the months of September and November 2008; with final recommendations being forwarded to City Council in January 2009.  The committee will be supported by the city attorney and city secretary. Residents interested in being considered for this committee, please complete an application and return it to City Secretary Alicia Richardson no later than Thursday, August 21, 2008.  The application can be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to 972.317.0237.
