On Friday Dottie Palumbo, Sue Thompson & I met with Claude King, City Manager for the City of Lewisville about the redevelopment opportunities at the future DCTA Train Station.  On Feb. 18th the Lewisville City Council will consider a professional service agreement for a development plan for the area around the future North Lewisville/Highland Village Station.  Mr. King also informed us, in the agreement they have included working with the City of Highland Village if we desire.  After the 18th we should have clearer understanding of the direction the City of Lewisville is going with their development plans.

On Wednesday, City Manager, Mike Leavitt, Rhoda Savage and Fince Espinoza met with representatives from Odyne and National Bus sales to discuss purchasing of a hybrid bus for the Highland Village Senior All-Stars.

On Tuesday, Highland Village Firefighters provided mutual aid coverage for Flower Mound while their firefighters and other community Fire Departments fought a house fire that was ignited by a lightning strike in The Colony.

Tommy White has been speaking with Stacey Campbell of Greater Lewisville Cares about a Clean Up project for Saturday, March 1, 2008.

On Monday, the Senior All-Stars met at the Highland Shores Community Center for snacks and game day.  (14 Residents and 5 Non-Residents attended.)

On Friday, the Highland Village Senior All-Stars went to the Choctaw Casino.  36 of our lovely All-Stars were here, at City Hall, Friday morning, ready to load up and head to Choctaw.  This is a very popular trip with the All-Stars.

On Thursday, the Senior All-Stars met in the Police Training Room for a Valentine’s Celebration and game day. (16 Residents and 7 Non-Residents attended.)

Remodeling and repairs are almost complete on the Copperas Branch Park Gate House. 

North crew has been reworking and adding mulch and flowers to various shrub beds.

North Crew installed two spring rockers at Bruce Lockhart Lion's Club Park. The spring rockers were purchased by the Lion's Club with the coordination of the Highland Village Police Dept.

South Crew has been preparing baseball and soccer fields for the upcoming season.

The Contractor (Tex-Sand Sports Turf) is almost finished with the baseball field renovation at Unity Park.

South crew trimmed crape myrtles on the Willow Creek median.

Pilot Knoll Crew has been cutting down dead trees in the overnight camping area.

Pilot Knoll Crew has been finishing up on campsite repairs, this week.

Inland Trail Crew received their new zero turn mower and have quickly put it to work. 

Inland Trail Crew cleaned up the railroad around amenity station: A this week.

Inland Trail Crew trimmed branches East of Murray Park this week.

The Highland Village Fire Department had 25 calls for service the week of February 8 – 13.  This included:  12 medical emergencies, 3 public service calls, 3 fire alarms, 1 vehicle fire, 1 odor investigation, 2 fill-ins, 1 grass fire and 2 structure fire calls.

This week, the police department responded to 143 calls for service, made 95 traffic contacts, made 3 arrests, responded to 7 traffic accidents and performed 408 community policing activities.

Martha Butz attended the TMHRA Conference and board meeting in Galveston this week.

Vanesa Childers attended the monthly NTMA meeting held in North Richland Hills on Thursday.  Performance measures, upcoming training classes and graduation ceremonies were discussed.  Information was provided from FY 2006/07 on eleven categories to update Human Resources Performance Measures being tracked.  Nine cities participate in tracking this information.

Employee participation in taking the Health Assessment at myuhc.com is still continuing.  Fifty-five employees have completed their surveys.  The cut off is February 29, 2008 so employees who haven’t participated yet don’t forget!

Firefighter/Paramedic Barbara Cook received her Fire Officer I & II certifications through Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

Officer Clint Webb and his wife had an addition to their family recently.  Morgan Riley Webb, who was born on 02-06-2008 at 1706 hrs weighed 8 lbs 12 oz at birth.  Our congratulations to the Webb family.

Officer Alicia Bautista brought around the newest little member to her family for a visit.  

Detective Andrea Musick King attended Background Investigator Training at COG in Arlington.

Chief Tatum attended NIMS 300 & 400 from Monday - Thursday of this week.  Assistant Chief Collier attend NIMS 300 on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

On Tuesday Mayor Costa met with Highland Forest HOA president, Kathryn Ermish, and two board members to discuss issues and areas of concern from members of the association.  This lunch meeting was held as a result of the cancellation of the original Highland Forest HOA Meeting with the Mayor scheduled for the evening of January 29, 2008.

Council member Adams and his wife attended the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce 26th Annual Mardi Gras Ball held at Celebrations in Highland Village on Friday.
