Highland Village Police Officers Fill In as “Fathers of the Brides”

Back To News

Not your typical crime-fighting police officer duty, Highland Village police officers are taking community involvement to a new level - filling the duty of Father of the Bride.

Seven couples residing at Highland Village’s Rambling Oaks Courtyard Assisted Living are renewing their wedding vows. The “wedding planner” began the preparation check list and was stuck at who would walk the brides down the aisle. The Highland Village police officers stepped up to the task.

“It’s so refreshing to see these couples who’ve been married so long renew their vows and their commitment to each other. I’m honored to be able to participate in this ceremony and help make this a special day,” stated Sergeant Dennis Oliver.

Rambling Oaks is turning the dining area into a church, Mulkey Mason is providing flowers for the officers to give the brides as they walk them down the aisle and the husband of the director of Rambling Oaks is a pastor and will officiate the ceremonies. Highland Village police officers participating are Sgt. Oliver, Officer Henderson, Officer Lafortune, PSO Jones, Officer Peterson and PSO Williams.
