Waste Management Contingency Plan for Potential Winter Weather

Back To News

The current forecast is calling for another winter storm on Wednesday and Thursday, February 9 and 10. We have contacted Waste Management and it is their goal to pick up as scheduled on Wednesday, even if later in the day than normal. If they are prevented from running Wednesday they will roll all services one day - Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday. We will update here as we receive information from Waste Management.

The ice and snow events of last week caused the City's solid waste provider, Waste Management, to defer all solid waste and recycling pickup. They are resuming their regular schedule this week so your trash will be picked up on your usual day. Some residents left their waste out last week in case a make-up day was feasible and they have continuously left refuse at the curb. Please bring these cans and bags back into your garage until your regular day as high winds are possible this week and we want to avoid large amounts of blowing trash. Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult weather cycles.

If you have any questions, please contact Sandy McCoy at 972-899-5091 or Waste Management at 972-315-5400.
