Lions Club Balloon Festival and Fair Cancelled

Back To News

The Lions Club and the City of Highland Village regret to announce the cancellation of the Lions Club Balloon Festival and Fair. The Balloon Festival, which was scheduled for August 17-19, has been cancelled due to the recent flooding of Copperas Branch Park.

“It is regrettable, however there was no way we could make that large of a commitment without more optimism on the usability of the park,” stated Van Glover, Highland Village Lions Club Chairman.

The Lions Club Balloon Festival and Fair is a Highland Village tradition and has grown to a regional event since the first festival in Highland Village over 20 years ago. Mayor Dianne Costa stated, “We will miss the beautiful balloons, booths and entertainment this festival provides, however the City remains dedicated to this signature event that brings so much to the City, our neighbors and to the charities the Lions Clubs support.”

The Festival is a fund-raising event for the Highland Village, The Colony, Lake Cities and Denton Lions Clubs. “With the support of the City, we raise a lot of money for charity. We will work to make next year even better,” said Van Glover. The festival will take place next year in Highland Village.
