At the December 14 meeting Council approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a contract with MACVAL Associates to provide construction of the A/C water line replacement for Village Estates Drive, Villa Park Drive, Merriman Drive, Mosswood Drive, Sellmeyer Drive, Desiree Drive, Perro Place, Medina Drive water lines and Medina Drive water line connections for a contract amount of $893,665
Council also approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to provide notice of intent to establish a quiet zone at the railroad crossing on FM 2499.
During the Mayor and Council announcements, Mayor McDearmont reminded residents of the Holiday Gift Pass Program. The program encourages residents to shop Highland Village for their holiday gifts and gatherings and receive a special gift at participating stores. Details and participating businesses can be found on the Highland Village Business Association Facebook page.
City Manager Michael Leavitt informed residents of the Parks and Recreation Holiday Lighting Contest, Santa visiting Highland Village neighborhoods and Santa at the Fire Station. The Highland Village Fire Department will host Santa on Saturday, December 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be cookies, hot chocolate and photos with Santa.
In the City Manager Report, Leavitt recognized the Highland Village Police Department for their “Webber Seavey” International Award for Quality in Law Enforcement. The department was recognized as a semi-finalist by the International Association of Chiefs of Police for the Police Involving Parents (PIP) Community Policing Program.
