City hires new Parks and Recreation Director, Linda Cornelius, to begin on March 29. Ms. Cornelius brings to the City a strong background in municipal parks and recreation activities. Previously employed by the City of Boerne as the Director of Parks and Recreation, throughout her career Ms. Cornelius has developed and managed recreation facilities and programs, sports activities and park development.
“As we move forward with the development of our Inland Trail System and Doubletree Ranch, Ms. Cornelius will provide the needed leadership and insight to make the most of these amenities. We look forward to working with Ms. Cornelius,” said City Manager Michael Leavitt.
Along with serving as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Boerne, Ms. Cornelius has also worked for the City of San Antonio and College Station. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (T.A.A.F.) and has served as the T.A.A.F. Regional Director and President. Ms. Cornelius was a member of the 1980 United States Olympic Team, Track & Field and that same year was the world record holder for indoor and outdoor pentathlon 800 meters. A graduate of Texas A & M University, Ms. Cornelius was inducted into the Texas A & M University Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
