City Works with Resident Film Professional to Produce 2010 State of the City Video

The last few years the Highland Village, Flower Mound and Lewisville Mayors have presented the state of their cities through a video presentation. This year the three cities teamed up to share a theme for the presentation. Each city has production staff, however what was needed for this collaboration to work was an outside professional to orchestrate the production. Highland Village resident and film professional, Shawn Griffith, stepped up to the plate.

“Shawn’s creativity and energy capture the attention of all involved. He managed our project with ease and produced a quality product,” stated Highland Village Mayor Dianne Costa.

Highland Village, Flower Mound and Lewisville communications managers met with Mr. Griffith in late 2009 to determine the theme. It was agreed to play on the CBS program The Amazing Race, with the state of the city versions titled The Even More Amazing Race. The videos featured each city’s mayor “racing” through their city to the next clue which told the story of the state of their city. Mr. Griffith, co-owner of Texas Film Group, donated his services to direct, produce and edit a joint open and close to tie the three cities videos together.

The videos were presented at the annual Tri-City State of the Cities Luncheon which is hosted by the Flower Mound and Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Griffith further volunteered his services by coordinating the audio visual aspect of the presentation and serving as emcee of the event. To provide a memorable keepsake of the event, Mr. Griffith donated The Even More Amazing Race t-shirts which were sold at the event for $10 with the profits benefiting the Unity in the Community Non-Profit of the Year, Christian Community Action. T-shirts are still available for purchase.

“This is the third year we have contracted with Shawn for the production of our videos. Every year he outshines the previous year with a new and better product,” stated City Manager Michael Leavitt. Mr. Griffith also produces a marketing video for the city’s signature event, the Red, White & Blue Festival.
