Council Receives Presentations for Future Discussion on a Transportation Oriented Development Overlay District

On November 5, the City Council held a joint work session with the Planning and Zoning Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Zoning Board of Adjustments, Media Communications Committee, Inland Trail Steering Committee and Highland Village Community Development Corporation to receive presentations for future discussion on a Transportation Oriented Development Overlay district for the eastern section and the FM 407 commercial corridor in the City of Highland Village.

Presentations were given by TxDOT and City Staff regarding the I-35E expansion project as it relates to Highland Village and Copperas Branch Park and by the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) and a Transit Oriented Development Planning Consultant regarding the proposed Garden Ridge Rail Station.

The City Council will receive additional public input during the early work session portion of their meeting this Tuesday, November 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. An hour will be designated for this item.  All presentations are available on the city web site.
