In an effort to improve our level of service to those citizens involved in motor vehicle accidents, the City of Highland Village Police Department has entered into an agreement with PoliceReports.US, LLC to implement a new online program for obtaining copies of traffic accident reports. Police Chief, Ed O'Bara states; "This enhanced level of service will allow both citizens and their respective insurance companies the flexibility of getting the reports on-line, twenty-four hours a day, and seven days a week. No longer will residents need to travel to the Police Department in order to get a copy of an accident report”.
Beginning October 20, 2009, accident reports generated on or after that date can be accessed through the City of Highland Village website at http://www.highlandvillage.org. Once you are at the City's homepage, click on City Departments, then Police Department and then Accident Reports. A link on this page will direct you to the on-line accident report database.
In order to download copies of reports, citizens will need to have a computer, printer, access to the Internet and a credit card to make the purchase.
To search for an accident report, two of the following required pieces of information must be provided:
The Highland Village Police Department recommends that you allow a minimum of three working days after the accident has occurred before attempting to access the report. Some accidents may also require additional time to process.
Chief O'Bara added "The on-line distribution of accident reports via the web will allow the Highland Village Police Department Records Section to be more efficient and provide an increased level of customer service. The cost of the on-line, (credit card payment) service is minimal and residents will still have the option of stopping by the department and picking up their reports if they prefer to pay with check or cash”.
If there are any questions regarding this service, please contact the Highland Village Police Department Records Section at (972) 317-5558 ext. 555.
