At the June 10 meeting, Council unanimously approved an amendment to the ordinance and concept plan for the east side of the Marketplace at Highland Village. Opus West requested an amendment to the side yard set back from the approved 150' to 100'. Council had postponed this item at the May 27 meeting to allow staff the opportunity to address any issues related to this site. The proposed user of the site, IHOP, will be at the 137' setback line.
Also at this meeting Council approved site plans for two more new developments within the Marketplace at Highland Village. One pertains to an office condo development and the other linear retail. Both are to be located on the west side adjacent to FM 2499.
Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a design contract with Freese and Nichols for the voter approved Service Center and Interim Senior Center. Both facilities were approved by voters in November 2007 and will be constructed at 948 Highland Village Road.
During the City Manager report, Assistant City Manager Dorothy Palumbo announced the extension of service hours for DCTA Connect Route 22. Beginning June 9, DCTA will be extending operating hours for Connect Route 22 currently operating in Highland Village. Weekday service will begin at 7:15 a.m. rather than the 9:15 a.m. start time currently in place. Saturday hours will remain the same, 9:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. DCTA hopes the extended hours will allow more people to take advantage of the service. Connect Route 22 serves numerous stops along FM 407 including The Shops of Highland Village and Wal-Mart and allows passengers to transfer to Connect Routes 20 and 21 serving the city of Lewisville. Service maps and schedules may be found on DCTA's website, www.dcta.net, or at Highland Village City Hall. For trip scheduling assistance, please call DCTA at (940)243-0077.
