At the December 11 meeting, Council approved a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit a funding application to the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) ELAP program for the purchase of a 33-passenger bus. The Enhanced Local Assistance Program provides grant opportunities for DCTA member cities to enhance local transit systems. Projects considered eligible for ELAP funding include shuttle services for the elderly and disable as well as design and construction of a bus shelter. The bus will initially be utilized within the Highland Village Senior All-Star program and other city programs.
Council also passed a similar resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit a funding application for ELAP funds for the construction of a bus shelter at the DCTA bus stop within the Marketplace at Highland Village.
During the City Manager Report, Michael Leavitt announced the Fire Department annual holiday tour with Santa. Beginning December 16 and running through December 23 the Highland Village Fire Department will take Santa to different neighborhoods in Highland Village. Santa’s Fire Truck Sleigh will run from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. More information is available on the city web site.
