Council Denies Ordinance to Extend Hours of Sale on Alcoholic Beverages

At the November 11 meeting, Council denied an ordinance amendment to extend the hours of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages. The proposed ordinance would have extended the hours of these establishments to 2:00 a.m. Council postponed this item at the October 14 meeting and requested a public hearing be held to allow time for residents to learn of the proposed change and provide comments. The public hearing was held and subsequently Council denied the ordinance.

Also at this meeting, Council approved the final plat, tree plan, entry feature monument, landscaping and a development agreement for Highland Oaks subdivision. This item was approved with the condition that the developer place $25,000 in an escrow account for construction of cul-de-sac by the City, with the understanding that funds would be returned to the developer after ten years if not utilized by the City; and include a note on the plat that Lot 23 is dedicated to the City. Highland Oaks subdivision is developing on the last large tract of land in the southwest quadrant of the city.

Council approved a resolution requesting the DCTA Lewisville Lake Rail Station be named the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station.

During the City Manager report, Michael Leavitt invited residents to attend the annual Our Village Glows tree lighting on Tuesday, December 2. This year the vent will be held at the Shops at Highland Village at the northwest corner of FM 407 and FM 2499. Details are available on the city web site.
