During the Mayor Report, Mayor Scott McDearmont recognized Firefighters/Paramedics Richard Caudle and Robert Dukes for their life-saving care. On September 17, 2010, HVFD was dispatched to 1000 Valley Ridge in Lewisville to provide mutual aid to the Lewisville Fire Department.  A 49 year old male was complaining of chest pain that radiated down his left arm.  The crew administered oxygen and aspirin, initiated an IV and gave medication for pain relief.  The 12 Lead EKG they completed showed elevation in V1, V2, and V3.  This information was communicated to the hospital ER in route, thus saving time once the patient reached the hospital. Also during the Mayor Report, Mayor McDearmont presented the Life Saving Award to Police Officer Ryan Urbanek. On December 3rd, 2010 at about 5:30 a.m., Highland Village Police received a report of a female possibly headed to Lake Lewisville to commit suicide by driving into the Lake. Officer Ryan Urbanek responded to Copperas Branch Park and began patrolling the area. Officer Urbanek saw the headlights of a vehicle totally submerged underwater. The female was treading water close to the vehicle and Officer Urbanek attempted to call her to shore but she was having difficulty keeping her head above water. Her head went under several times and Officer Urbanek, who was already knee deep in the cold water, swam out after her. Officer Urbanek got hold of the female and was able to pull her in safely to the shore. EMS was called to the scene and transported her to the hospital for medical treatment and evaluation by MHMR personnel.
