At the January 11 meeting, an ordinance considering an amendment to the District of Highland Village planned development died due to lack of motion. The developer of the District of Highland Village proposed an amendment to approximately 5.274 acres of the existing concept plan to allow 140 multi-family units. The Planning & Zoning Commission considered the proposed amendment at their meeting on December 21. The item was unanimously denied. After the Planning & Zoning meeting, the developer submitted a letter of withdrawal for Ordinance 07-1023. A public hearing was held at the December 21 Planning & Zoning meeting and published for the January 11 City Council meeting as well. Therefore the ordinance and public hearing was included on the agenda for the January 11 City Council meeting. The public hearing was conducted and the agenda item died due to lack of motion.

City Secretary, Alicia Richardson, submitted a letter of resignation to Council during executive session. Ms. Richardson has accepted the City Secretary position with the City of Southlake. Council made a motion to accept Ms. Richardson’s resignation and set her notice period and compensation to run through January 28. "Tonight the City Council accepted the resignation of our City Secretary, Alicia Richardson.  I know I speak for the entire Council in thanking Ms. Richardson for her service to the City of Highland Village. We wish her and her family well in her future service," stated Mayor Scott McDearmont.

During the City Manager report, Michael Leavitt informed residents of the Resolution Run to be held on Saturday, January 15 and the Father & Daughter Dance scheduled for February 4. Registration for both events can now be done online at www.hvparks.com.
