Back To News

Council received the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The City received an unqualified (“clean”) opinion from the auditors in this report which is the highest rating given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) accounting standards. The rating indicates the financial statements present fairly the financial position of the City of Highland Village. The report is available on the City web site.

Council considered and postponed an ordinance amending the City’s animal ordinance. The ordinance under consideration would require pet owners to spay or neuter their pet or pay an annual breeder registration fee. Other amendments include restricting the giving of animals as prizes, promotions or novelties, prohibiting the sale of animals on public property and the transportation of an animal in an open bed of a vehicle. This item was postponed.

Council voted in opposition to a resolution supporting the Texas Smoke Free Workplace Law which is currently HB 5 and under consideration by the Texas Legislature.

During the Mayor and Council presentations, Maddie Ramirez was recognized for winning the Southwest Airlines Adopt a Pilot contest. Ms. Ramirez submitted the winning design for a tie representing the Adopt a Pilot program.
