The Highland Village Fire Department started the new year with a joint training venture with the Lewisville Fire Department. In the past classroom and fireground training has been conducted at the Tarrant County College Fire Academy in Ft. Worth. Taking personnel and equipment out of our service area district created staffing and apparatus issues that can now be handled in a more efficient and cost effective manner since live fire training is conducted at the City of Lewisville Fire and Police Training complex on Kealy St. Additionally, this move enables fire and emergency services personnel from both Cities with the opportunity to develop relationships with mutual aid response companies that they will actually be working with in real life emergencies.
