Department Vision
A department that is a leader in improving the quality of life by providing safe and attractive parks, trails, facilities, and recreational opportunities.

Mission
Within the budgetary means of the department, we pledge to establish recreation programs and a park system for our citizens that provides them with a source of pleasure and opportunity for healthy activity, promotes economic development, minimizes demands on valuable City resources, and instills pride in those who provide and utilize our facilities and services.

Responsibilities
  • The department is responsible for maintaining over 335 acres of public parkland within the City limits, including 20 City-owned or leased park sites.
  • The department maintains 23.6 acres of multiuse trails.

Services
The Parks and Recreation Department provides the following services:
  • Sponsors or co-sponsors special events, including concerts, movies in the park, camp-outs, photo contests, wellness fairs, festivals, etc.
  • Offers year-round recreational programming, including athletic leagues, tennis classes, fitness runs, etc. for all ages
  • Facilitates groups through rental of pavilions, athletic fields, tennis courts, and the Community Center
  • Offers community education classes and programs for seniors
