Public Works
The Public Works Department consists of the street, utility, drainage, building operations and fleet division.
New Municipal Service Center Complex
In 2007 voters approved funding for a new Municipal Service Center to be located at 948 Highland Village Road. As we move toward build out, a new Municipal Service Center Complex is needed to house the Public Works and Parks Departments. Improvements to the service yard, the storage buildings and the fence buffering the adjacent residential areas are needed. With the approval of this proposition, the current modular units will be replaced with a newly constructed facility, enhanced parking and appropriate storage buildings. The new facility will be a 10,000 square foot, one story, main building with approximately 5,000 square feet of additional storage structures and will include:
- Covered parking for the City’s major fleet vehicles
- Covered bins for essential construction materials such as sand and gravel
- Screening wall around three sides of the property with employee parking within screened area
- Hardscape wall buffering the residential areas
- Enhanced drainage compliant with TCEQ regulations
- Climate controlled storage buildings
- Enhanced employee training facility
- Environmentally friendly complex
