Garbage Collection
The City contracts with Waste Management for Garbage and Recycling Services. The new blue recycling carts have been distributed throughout the City for recycling in Highland Village.

Waste Management also collects residential yard waste weekly – this is delivered to Living Earth Technologies for use in a composting program.
Garbage
- Curbside collection will run as scheduled on Thanksgiving Day.
- Curbside collection is once per week Tuesday through Friday.
- Collection will be performed between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.
- The City is divided into sections, which determine the day of the week for collection.

Recycling
Highland Village has contracted with Waste Management for a new five year contract to provide solid waste, brush pickup and recycling services to the City. Pickup schedules will not change from your current day for service.
One change in the new contract is the ability to use recycling carts instead of the previous used recycling blue bags. The City's solid waste provider, Waste Management has delivered 65 gallon recycling carts to all current residences receiving solid waste service. A list of allowable recycling items is molded into the lid of the new cart to provide a quick reference of allowable recycling items. Residents are requested to please place your cart at the curb with the handle facing the curb.
Any resident not desiring a cart may continue to use the blue bag method of recycling by notifying Waste Management to pick up their recycling cart. During the month of September 2008 Waste Management will then provide one box of the blue bags for that customer to use. Any further purchase of blue bags will be at the residents' expense.

Yard Waste
- We collect your yard waste separately so it can be composted.
- Bundle your brush, grass, yard trimmings, and leaves and place in either “Kraft” bags or in containers.
- DO NOT use plastic bags for yard waste, as they are not biodegradable.
- Brush and limbs must be bundled in lengths less than 4’ and the weight must be less than 40 lbs.
- Yard Waste Collection is every Monday.
For pickup of bulk items, such as a hot water heater, call Waste Management at 972-315-5400 24 hours in advance of your regular trash/recycle pickup day.
