Dispatch / 911

DispatchThe Highland Village Police Department's Communications Unit is a busy place.

Communications Officers are responsible for answering 911 calls, dispatching both police, fire and other city personnel, answering the Police Department Administration phone line, recording all information about each call for service in our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, monitoring prisoners in the city jail and monitoring the Municipal Complex security system.

When you dial 911, an alert tone sounds in the communications center that alerts the Communications Officer to your call. If you use a landline telephone to call, the address where the phone is located appears on the 911 computer screen. This allows you to call 911 but not have to speak if you didn't want someone nearby to hear you.

Police officers are dispatched to ALL 911 calls, regardless of the explanation given to a Communications Officer.

Four Communications Officers, one Communications Supervisor and a Communications Manager staff communications.
