Michelle Schwolert was elected to City Council in May of 2012. She served on the Planning & Zoning Commission from 2007 – 2012, leaving her position as Chair to serve on Council. She also serves on the Highland Village Community Development Board, is Council Liaison for the Public Art Advisory Board and at one time served on the Police Officer Interview Board for Highland Village. Ms. Schwolert worked as Administrative Assistant to the Finance Department from 1999 – 2001, for which she attributes her admiration for City staff and knowledge of municipal procedures and budget processes.
Ms. Schwolert received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations with an emphasis in Journalism from Missouri State University. Her husband, Matthew, teaches Algebra and coaches golf at Marcus High School.
Ms. Schwolert and Matthew have three sons. Nolan, age 15, attends Marcus High School, Jacob, age 8, attends Highland Village Elementary, and Henry, the newest addition, was born December 02, 2013. Ms. Schwolert and her family are members at Faith Lutheran Church in Flower Mound where they teach Kids Worship on Sundays and serve as volunteers for a variety of youth and family programs. Ms. Schwolert also volunteers at the Elementary School with classroom and school-wide activities.
For recreation, Ms. Schwolert enjoys traveling, relaxing with family, watching sports, and spending outdoor time with her boys. She is passionate about guiding the youth in our community in making healthy and positive choices when faced with the challenges and influences of today’s social environment.
