Areas of Responsibility (AOR)

In order to serve you, the resident, on a more personal basis, the Police Department has divided the City into twelve (12) geographic areas, each assigned to two or more police officers. Each officer patrols his/her AOR(s) for 1.5 to 3 hours per shift.

Your AOR Officer is responsible for meeting as many residents as possible and serving as your personal contact with the Police Department. Click on your area to learn more (or keep scrolling down to see all areas).

Area 1:

If you ever have any questions about safety or crime please give one of us a call and we will be happy to meet with you. Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 1 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 1 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 515 homes and 1,670 residents (with more moving in soon) in AOR 1.

AOR 1 is located on the northwest side of Highland Village and encompasses the Castlewood, Northwood and Brooks Court subdivisions. (See map below)

AOR 1 is a very peaceful place to live and there is relatively little traffic, except for the intersection of Village Parkway (FM 2499) and Highland Shores Blvd. In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Area 2

Our job as your AOR Officer is to monitor Area 2 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 2 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 390 homes, 1,270 residents and (6) businesses in AOR 2.

This Area is located on the far west side of Highland Village and the homes here are relatively new to our community. (See map below)

Traffic can be a concern in Area 2 because FM 2499 runs nearby but the neighborhoods are generally very quiet.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Area 3:

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 3 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 3 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 400 homes, and 1,315 residents in AOR 3 (see the map on the back).

AOR 3 is located on the northwest side of Highland Village north of Highland Shores Blvd between Lake Cove and Lakeside Drive. (See map below)

Traffic is not usually a problem in AOR 3, but please be aware of the hills and curves in this area and watch for cars when crossing the street.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Area 4:

While patrolling Area 4 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 430 homes, and 1,390 residents AOR 4.

AOR 4 is located on the western side of Highland Village between Highland Shores Blvd. and the railroad tracks and includes the Hillside and Southwood areas.

Traffic is not usually a concern in AOR 4 because there are no major thoroughfares but residents should be cautious about traffic around hills and curves.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 5 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 5 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.  There are approximately 420 homes, and 1,350 residents AOR 5.

AOR 5 is located in the north central section of Highland Village between Highland Village Road and Lewisville lake. (See map below)

Traffic is not usually a concern in the neighborhoods of AOR 5, but remember to watch for pedestrians along Highland Village Road. Also, be cautious around hills and curves, especially back near the lake.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 6 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 6 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 445 homes and 1,445 residents in AOR 6.

AOR 6 is located on the south central side of Highland Village and includes the Briarhill subdivision, Briarhill Middle School, Heritage Elementary School and Christa McAuliffe Elementary School. (See map below)

Traffic can be a concern in AOR 6, because of its proximity to FM 407. Residents should also be cautious in the mornings and afternoon when school zone speed limits are in effect.

In regards to crime, AOR 6 is very safe, but as always, residents should be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles and report them immediately to our officers.

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 7 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 7 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 400 homes and 1,300 residents in AOR 7.

AOR 7 is located on the north central side of Highland Village and is bordered on the north by Lewisville Lake and includes portions of Highland Village Road. The neighborhoods include rolling hills and many trees. (See map below)

Traffic is not usually a concern in AOR 7, but residents should also be cautious in the mornings and afternoon when school zone speed limits are in effect and when children are waiting along the side of Highland Village Road for the bus.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Area 8:

Our job as your AOR Officer is to monitor Area 8 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 8 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 380 homes, 1,230 residents and no businesses in AOR 8.

This Area is located in the middle of Highland Village and experiences relatively little crime throughout the year. (See map below)

Traffic can be a concern in Area 8 because it includes portions of Highland Village Road, Highland Shores Blvd. and Briarhill Blvd. and is the primary route to Christa McAuliffe Elementary, Briarhill Middle and DKH Preschool.

In regards to crime, residents should be aware of construction near their homes and be watchful for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods. Construction site thefts occasionally occur and residents are our best resource to notify us of unusual activity.

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 9 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 9 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 580 homes and 1,870 residents in AOR 9.

AOR 9 is located on the northeast side of Highland Village and includes several parks (Copperas Branch, Lions Club, Wichita Forrest), boat docks and the YMCA camp. AOR 9 is also very close to Lewisville Lake. (See map below)

Traffic can be a concern in AOR 9 because of its proximity to Highland Village Road. Remember to be cautious in the mornings and afternoon when school zone speed limits are in effect.

In regards to crime, AOR 9 is very safe, but as always, residents should be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles and report them immediately to our officers.

While patrolling Area 10 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 630 homes, 2,050 residents and 10 businesses in AOR 10.

AOR 10 is located in the southeastern part of Highland Village between Highland Village Road and Sellmeyer Lane. (See map below)

Traffic can be a concern in Area 10 because it includes Highland Village Road, Sellmeyer Lane, Brazos Blvd and FM 407. Residents should also be aware of school traffic around Highland Village Elementary School in the mornings and evenings.

In regards to crime, AOR 10 is very safe, but as always, residents should be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles and report them immediately to our officers.

Area 11:

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 11 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 11 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are approximately 60 homes, 200 residents and 30 businesses in AOR 11.

AOR 11 is located in the in southern part of Highland Village along FM 407 and is comprised mainly of the “business district.“ (See map below)

In regards to crime, we receive occasional reports of criminal mischief and shoplifting, but other than that there are no major crimes.

The Highland Village business district is an attractive area in which to shop and run errands. Merchants of all types are represented and with the expansion of FM 407 we hope that retailers will continue to experience positive growth.

Our job as your AOR Officers is to monitor Area 11 for crime conducive conditions and to make certain that your questions and concerns are addressed promptly. While patrolling Area 11 we look for things such as suspicious people, suspicious vehicles, faded traffic and street signs, and children who forgot their safety helmets.

There are two large business developments currently planned for AOR 12. AOR 12 is located in the in southwest corner of Highland Village along FM 407 and Village Parkway. It is comprised mainly of the “business district. “ (See map below)

AOR 12 is also where our new Public Safety Storefront is located! This new location is scheduled to open in December 2006 and will have various services offered there. The Storefront is located on the northeast corner of FM407 and Village Parkway next to LA Fitness. Stop in and see us!

In regards to crime, typically in our business area we receive occasional reports of criminal mischief and shoplifting, but other than that there are no major crimes.
