You can reduce the chances for experiencing false alarms by remembering the following:
Since the inception of the false alarm ordinance, false alarm calls have gone down quite substantially. Each alarm call is responded to by at least two Highland Village police officers. Officers typically spend half an hour at the location checking the home/business to ensure that there are no signs of criminal activity.
The rise in the number of false alarm calls in the past had meant a decrease in the amount of time our officers were able to patrol neighborhoods looking for criminal activity. The effectiveness of the ordinance and permitting process has proved very valuable to our citizens and our department.
