The first HVBA luncheon for 2017 was held on Tuesday. This was the first luncheon at Doubletree Ranch Park. We had over 80 in attendance and received so many compliments on the new park and the facilities. We truly have come full circle – historically our HVBA lunches were held at Doubletree Ranch Park and will now be the new home for the HVBA luncheons.

On Tuesday Mayor Wilcox, Ken Heerman, Laurie Mullens, and I attended a legislative meeting hosted by the City of Denton. Focused Advocacy, Denton’s lobbyist, presented information on key issues the 85th Legislature will address when they convene on January 10, including SB 2 which focuses on revenue caps.

Alvin Varughese has accepted a Police Officer position with our department starting January 3, 2017. A recent Texas transplant (originally from New Jersey but has spent time living in Chicago), Alvin comes to us with previous experience as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Collin County Sheriff’s Department.
